Salmon on Couscous

Salmon is quite lean (low in saturated fats) and contains essential oils for your body. Couscous is full of fibre and energy for your sports activities.

  • Salmon fillets
  • Box of couscous

Lightly fry or grill the salmon fillets in olive oil for a few seconds. To make the couscous you can follow the instructions on the box. It is usually cooked by empting the couscous into a pot of boiling chicken stock for a few minutes. I add a couple of spices to make the couscous more flavourful.

Salmon on a Bed of Salad

Make sure you purchase fresh salmon filets from a reputable fish market. To check if the salmon is fresh give it a smell, if it gives off a smelly fishy smell it might be old. Otherwise looking at the salmon the flesh should be firm and glistening. Dull looking meat will be older.

Cut a nice slice of raw salmon, build the salad by adding all of the greens and add some balsamic vinegar and a small amount of oil. Try to stay away from salad dressing mixes as they often contain many preservatives and are often fattening.

Chicken is a firm favourite for anyone with a sporting background. Give the chicken a smell before cooking it, to check that it is not off.

Cook the couscous as it says on the box. Grill the chicken breasts in olive oil, garlic and spices of your choice. Add lettuce, tomatoes and olives to add some greens to your meal.

Beef Steaks on Vegetables

Remember to let the steaks reach room temperature before you cook the steaks up. Resting the steak for about a minute after it is cooked will allow the cooking process to finish.

Lamb chops on salad

I really love the taste of lamb.

Lamb chops on salad

  • Lamb chunks
  • Lettuce mix
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Pomegranates
  • Avocado
  • Low fat cheese
  • Olives
  • Can of tomato puree

Add the lamb chunks to a pot of tomato puree, salt, chilli powder, 2-3 cups of water and a bunch of other spices you enjoy. Bring this to the boil and simmer for 3 hours. Make the salad using the greens and season with salt and balsamic vinegar.

Chicken Salad

I really think a chicken is a great source of protein. Try this healthy chicken salad to fuel the rest of your day.

  • 1 deboned chicken breast
  • Tomatoes
  • Cucumber
  • Water crest and spinach
  • Avocado

Add the chicken breast to a pot of boiling water for about 5 minutes. Remove the chicken breast from the water and cut slits into the breast. Empty some of the water from the pot. Try to raise the chicken about the water by using a metal strainer and close the lid of the pot. This will allow the chicken to steam, allow it to steam for about 15 minutes. Check to see if the chicken is done and serve with a salad.

Smoothy

Various Fruit Smoothies

Always try to use low fat or soy milk.  I usually add three quarters fruit and a quarter milk to the blender.  Add some low fat yogurt for some extra thickness. Add any fruit you desire. You may also want to add some protein powder if you are spending time at the gym.

Poached Eggs

How do I do poached eggs?

  • Add about half a teaspoon of salt to a pot of water and boil.
  • Break eggs into a bowl and gently add to the boiling water.
  • Give the pot a gentle stir with the eggs inside.
  • Wait till the yoke of the eggs are covered with a some of the white as seen below.
  • Timing will vary according to your preference.

Poached eggs and tomatoes. If you like read with eggs rather try rye bread or perhaps a rice cake. I often accompany this meal with some fruit on the side.
